The forever elegant Mz Kim graciously decided to host a meet and greet for my little FB sewing group "Those Darn Sew and Sews" on Saturday.
It was a glorious sunny day with just a nip of chill in the air and so perfect for a luncheon with some fellow sewin' lovin' dames at the hilltop estate.
We were also encouraged to wear something that we had made. SQUEAL!
All in all there were seven of us including -
the super amazing & gorgeous Beccie who is the sewing sensation of Sew Retro Rose Blog : www.sewretrorose.blogspot.com.au
the beautiful & talented Bree of Dead Gorgeous - Hair & Makeup Styling: www.deadgorgeouscosmetics.com
and Janis of Rockabilly Gals Fashions: www.rockabillygalsfashions.com
All I can say is ER-MEH-GHERD what a wonderful day! Kim's divine home seemed to be built for luncheons such as these. We firstly sat outside on the deck drooling over Kim's immense collection of Home Journals, mid-century sewing manuals, vintage pattern drafting books & magazines while sipping on champers & coffee.
I bought along a couple of projects that I had been working on that had me totally dumbfounded.
Thankfully, Beccie & Nanette (the seamstress gurus) quickly gave me instructions & advice about trying to follow pattern instructions that can only be described as
"SHIT" and "CRAP".
I was so stoked to discover that I'm not such a herpy derp after all LOL
We then adjourned to the parlour for an incredible lunch & dessert where we discussed more sewing related guff and future TDS&S events that may be had. After stuffing my face stupid with chocolate truffles, cakes & brownies we again popped outside where we had created piles of random stuff to sell or swap. I was able to swap some patterns I didn't want for a "Successful Dressmaking" book & some fabulous fabric to make (another) blouse from.
At the end of the day I couldn't stop beaming. What a day! I got to meet a bunch of AMAZING women who are just as mad about sewing as me. I got heaps of wonderful advice, learnt about new fandangled gadgets like the "Make your own Bias Binding" Tool (thanks Andrea), had a delicious lunch, laughed my face off, swore my face off and .... well..... just had the most lovely time!
